Black Creek Porter

I really wanted to post a review here of Trooper, an English ale inspired by British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden. However, when I went shopping for a bottle today I found it was sold out across the city. So we can settle for a review of Black Creek Porter.

As I’ve said before, Black Creek Historic Brewery operates out of Pioneer-themed Black Creek Village in Toronto’s north end. They use only methods of brewing that would’ve been used pre-confederation.

Black Creek Porter pours a dark cola colour. I was surprised at how the head and aroma are almost non-existent. The aroma is of roasted nuts, but is barely there. The flavour is a roasted malt taste that is more faint than I was expecting, but that’s not a bad thing, depending on your palate. If you’re looking for more of a roasted malt and roasted nut flavour, this does come to you in the finish. I think this beer offers something for everyone looking for a porter.
