Don Valley Bench

Mill Street’s Don Valley Bench is a seasonal Hefeweizen, carried at the Mill Street Brew Pub and in the summer seasonal taster pack. If you are looking for a white ale that’s sweet and lacks sourness, this is a pretty good pick.

The beer pours with a hazy yellow body and a medium white head, which would be expected for this type of beer, though the body is a little more translucent than other Hefeweizens. The aroma has pear and apple notes, but is a little too faint. The taste again has apple and pear flavour, which moves to a clean watery finish, but the finish then extends to hints of sweet banana. This is quite nice for a summer beer. It’s also not overpowering in alcohol at 4.8%. I believe the label is meant to be a portrait of the Brickworks park.
