Amsterdam Oranje Weisse

Photo_3F7FFAB6-CAC5-66A1-D102-8AE1128B27BDI admit I paid $4.25 for a bottle of Amsterdam’s Oranje Weisse seasonal beer not even caring what it tasted like. I just wanted the bottle. The bottle is painted orange with white painted lettering.

The bottle describes the beer as “an unfiltered Flemish style white beer.” The bottle also gives instructions in performing the “weisse roll” of gently rolling the bottle back and forth on its side before opening.

Oranje Weisse surprised me in that there wasn’t a strong aroma of citrus. The beer is like Hoegaarden, but more carbonated, slightly less cloudy and slightly less citrus flavour. If you really want a beer that tastes like Hoegaarden, this isn’t great. If you want a weisse that’s really easy drinking, this is pretty good.
