Westvleteren 12

Today there was a story in the Toronto Star about the sale of Westvleteren 12 at the LCBO at Yonge and Queens Quay. One hundred and twenty six-packs were available this morning and had buyers lining up willing to dish out $76.85. The Yonge/Queens Quay store was sold out in four minutes. Other stores sold out in a few minutes as well. The Trappist beer is normally only sold at  St. Sixtus Abbey in Belgium, but the monks decided to allow worldwide sales in order to raise money to repair their church.

I did not score one of these six-packs, but I hope Santa thinks I was good this year and picks up a six-pack when he’s delivering presents in Belgium.
