Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale

“It’s like breakfast in a glass,” says Oregon-based Rogue Ales and Spirits founder Brett Joyce of his Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale.

Metro, the news website and chain of commuter newspapers, had an interesting feature on the strange-sounding beer  with Joyce published this weekend. The LCBO will be carrying 1,500 bottles of this special brew (in 15 stores in the GTA only). A 750 ml bottle will cost $9.65. The bottle is painted pink, like a pig.

“But let’s face it, a bacon beer in a pink bottle isn’t ever going to be a mass market product,” says Joyce.

Metro also has an intriguing article on an independent liquor store in Alberta gearing up for its milestone of 1,000th beer offered by releasing a special beer by a brewery called Alley Kat. The Big Kahuna will be released in a count of about 4,000 bottles.

  1. The original batch soured (and not in a good way) in the barrels. We re-brewed without using oak and take delivery tomorrow.
