I found this article on Fast Company’s website a few days ago and thought I should share it. A group of recent MBA graduates has launched the Can Van in Northern California. It’s a mobile canning unit that allows small craft breweries to produce canned beer, where in the past they could not due to lack of floor space or resources to buy their own canning equipment.

I never thought of this, but the article suggests the reasons listed above are why canned beer is more associated with mass-market beer. It’s not necessarily a prestige thing. Mind you, you often see prestigious import brands like Stella Artois sold in cans. Many will say they strongly prefer bottled beer,but canned beer does have its advantages, like less fragile material, light being kept out of the container, thus keeping the beer fresher longer, etc.
