Mill St. Franconian Bock

In the current seasonal sampler, Mill St. has a Franconian Bock, a very strong (7% ABV) lager made with Franconia malts from North Bavaria, according to the bottle. I was a little reluctant to try a 7% lager. When you say 7% lager, I think of being 17 in a field.

The aroma is malty and sweet with hints of caramel. The aroma is quite strong during the pour, but fades once poured. The body is dark amber with a thick beige head. The taste is sweet and malty. The finish is unfortunately why I don’t really want to try this beer again. It’s quite bitter with hops and a medium taste of just alcohol. Not all that pleasant.
