Magnetic beer cups

It took me until July this year to make it to a home game of my beloved Toronto Blue Jays. (Congrats to Pat Gillick and Roberto Alomar!) The other night I was at the game and ordered a stupidly expensive Bud. The pint was served in a plastic cup. On the bottom, the cup had a large hole in it and a Budweiser magnet filling the hole. I had never seen this before, but this technique is covered in this Popular Science article. It apparently makes the pouring process much quicker and more accident-proof. The cup is filled from the bottom through the hole.  The comments on the article are also interesting. One asks about the environmental effect of the magnet being used for one beer and thrown away. One wonders what happens when some idiot swallows the magnet.
